my process

We Connect

After you inquire, I will send you my brochure outlining what I offer and pricing guidelines. I do have a baseline of my pricing on my website here, but I’ll expand a bit on what is included and what your investment really looks like. From there, we set up a call to meet and discuss your photography vision. I really prefer to do a video call! This helps us feel more comfortable and connect a bit better than just over the phone. I’ll ask you questions about you and your partner (how you met, where you’re from, what drew you to me work) and then we’ll discuss what you’re dreaming up for the big day. I want to know everything! I get excited about all of the little details and things that you think are special. I want to know about the people in your lives also. Tell me about your wedding party, family members and all of the excitement you have to share these moments with them. I want to hear about how you want to FEEL on your wedding day, especially when it comes to photography. Then the floor is all yours to ask me any questions you have up front. We’ll review the booking process and follow up steps when you decide you want to book me for your day.

engagement session/Meet

Once we’re locked in, we will schedule your complimentary engagement session that comes built into your package. This isn’t just about having photos for ‘save-the-dates’… this is documenting you and your love as you are right now in this life! We’ll select a location that actually means something to you both- not just somewhere that looks pretty (though pretty never hurts, lol!) We will book a main goal date as well as one emergency/rain backup date. I’m happy to offer advice about outfits and what to wear because I do know what looks good on most people, but at the end of the day I want you to dress like YOU. I want you to feel comfortable and authentically you. If jeans and Vans are your vibe, I’m all for it. If you want a flowy sundress, I love that for you too. I’m here to see your inspiration photos but I’d prefer to let your own moments unfold naturally. I’m down to get as creative and pick something more out of the box for your session too, just tell me your vision. We’ll meet for one hour at that special spot and I’ll guide you through the photo session capturing quality photos that are equally beautiful and meaningful— all while getting to know you both even better. Once I’ve edited your whole gallery, you’ll get a link to your own password-protected online gallery with all of your high resolution images for download. For full one hour sessions you can expect to receive about 100 edited images from your session.

Timeline planning

I totally realize that a lot goes into wedding planning- I did it myself not too long ago when I married my husband in 2023! I really don’t want to overwhelm anyone when it comes to planning details so I leave some friendly space for a bit after booking but please know, my door is always open to my clients. So when a question pops up, please know I am happy to talk through whatever you need. 3-4 months out from your wedding day I will send out our main timeline and shot list questionnaire to map it all out there. I’ll ask a lot of questions about what you have planned, your locations for getting ready, your ceremony details and about the people you want to share your portrait time with during family and wedding party photographs. Once I have your full reply, I’ll draft a timeline and shot list and then schedule a follow up call for us to walk through each part of the day and tighten up our plan. It is my goal to have a timeline that is efficient, calm and cohesive. I want you to feel good going in about what the day looks like on paper, so that it will look even better through my lens.

GUIDANce

So by this point we’re really starting to get to know one another. I have a clear understanding of what matters most to you on your day and how I can work for you to create the best possible photography experience I know how to. I’ve been capturing wedding days for some time now, and I’ve learned a lot about people and what works and what doesn’t. I have created different guides to help assist you throughout your wedding day to navigate some common curveballs! My Wedding Party Vibe Guide is a tool you can forward to your wedding party that gives them all they need to know on how they can show up for you both and be the best part of your day! I also have a guide for Family Portraits, that is filled with tips for your family members and goes over some common family dynamics and how to ensure a smooth, comfortable photo experience for all! It has become really important to me to educate my clients about all of the different scenarios and setting realistic expectations for all. I am always here for you and while I am not in your family or bridal party, myself and my team are 100% in your corner on your wedding day. It means everything to me to ensure you’re well equipped to have an awesome day.

THE BIG DAY + BEYOND

On your wedding day, I will arrive to you a few minutes before my official start time to say hello and get myself established. I’ll start capturing your details and scope our locations for portraits. I’ll capture some candid shots of you and your people getting ready (when everyone’s hair and makeup looks good, of course). From there, the day is going to unfold naturally all while we follow our scheduled plan. I’ll shoot both intentionally and candidly- making sure to have an array of both well-posed and free-flowing shots. If we miss a photo on our shot list at one part of the day, we’ll figure out the best game plan to get it later on so nothing gets missed. Eventually, it will be party time and I’ll pretty much stick to a much more documentary based photo style— scanning the crowd for the crazy dancers and people having the most fun at your wedding. This is secretly my favorite part of the day. We’ll dance, we’ll party and we’ll cut some cake. By the end of the evening, I send you off to be with your people camera-free and I’ll email you a preview gallery of photos about a week after your wedding day. About 3 months after your wedding date is when I will send your final gallery of images. I know that sounds like a long time, but I do have other weddings to shoot and projects that I am working on! I also personally edit all of my galleries, no outsourcing here at LKP. While I don’t offer albums as part of my packages, printed photo books are available a la carte and I typically design and order these during the off season (November-April).
